Creating a culture of Reading for Pleasure in Schools
To date, City of Readers has reached over 1000 pupils across Liverpool by encouraging a love of reading inside and outside the classroom – through The Reader’s exploratory, inclusive and discursive approach.
Reader in Residence:
Providing weekly Shared Reading sessions, a highly-trained Reader in Residence will work within the school environment, engaging with staff and students to create a culture of reading for pleasure.
Training pupils as reading mentors, the Reading Revolutionaries programme develops mentors’ leadership and interpersonal skills and mentees’ confidence and self-esteem. Training is also provided for teachers to ensure the practice is embedded in the school culture in the long-term.
